Regina Housing Highlights - Nov 2, 2023
Affordable, charming, walkable houses in Canada for sale under $250,000
Yes, that’s right — we’re back again with more Regina “Housing Highlights”, a brief look at some of the local housing units for sale in Regina (and maybe eventually other cities too) for less than $250,000.
Here’s the catch — the housing we’ll be highlighting will consist entirely of places with great Walk Scores, Bike Scores, or Transit Scores (and ideally all three) from the eponymous WalkScore.com. They will also look nice, interesting, unusual or wacky in some way or have some other vague, subjective potential.
All the usual disclaimers apply — and we should point out that nobody here at Prairie Townscapes is making any commissions or receiving any incentives for doing this. All images are from Realtor.ca and the listings are linked below.

When people told you about a “starter home” this is probably the place they had in mind. You have a blank slate with a lot of potential, though not a whole lot to fuss over. There is a quaint faux-cobblestone paver pathway leading up to the front deck. A new-looking roof and a backyard that could accommodate a detached backyard suite along the laneway. The neighbourhood is a fabulous tree-lined street near Regina’s centrally-located Wascana Park. You’re also a short ride or walk from downtown. Check out the listing here.
1925 Robinson Street, Regina, SK
$204,000. Unlisted m2
3 bedroom, 2 bathroom
Neighbourhood (according to Realtor.ca): Cathedral
Walk Score: 83 Very Walkable
Transit Score: 54 Good Transit
Bike Score: 73 Very Bikeable
You’ve got to admire the boldness of the slapdash, low-energy sales vibes. Apparently consisting of “1 sq ft”, this property features fencing of the “fence” variety. Let’s hope the realtor is doing this pro bono.
Somewhat more charming is the Dutch Colonial style house itself, located right in the heart of Regina’s Cathedral neighbourhood. Someone who cares could make this place really shine. Two stories, and fun carpet, if that is your cup of tea. Take the savings on transportation costs and invest in some new stucco paint. Check out the listing, such as it is, right here.
2073 Atkinson Street, Regina, SK
$174,900. 94.1 m2
4 bedroom, 2 bathroom
Neighbourhood (according to Realtor.ca): Al Ritchie
Walk Score: 88 Very walkable
Transit Score: 50 Good transit
Bike Score: 66 Bikeable
A house dating from those rambunctious years where Craftsman ran headlong into Streamline Moderne. This is a gem that under previous ownership seemed somewhat shy. Someone with an eye for detail (and some spare cash to have a decent kitchen put in) could really do something impressive here. The upstairs is a cozy, well-lit space, although I might take it in a different direction — perhaps a Mission-style influence? The walkability score is hard to beat. Check out the listing here.
